AUM (Om)
Kanji - Passion
Hebrew - Zayin
Runes - Jera |
This group is the Tavarga Class of Letters. The presiding deity is Kaumari. These are the five organs of action called karmendriya, the nature of the rajaguna, in the Saivite Tradition. Rajaguna is a combination of two words: raja - passion and guna - a strand or quality. The rajas are said to be not only passion but a passion inherent in energy, movement, action, emotion, life. They are found in asuddha maya: magnetic-gross energy. This plane is called Bhuvarloka -"plane of the atmosphere." These five tattvas are said to be in Pratishthakala, the realm of the intellect and instinct.

Tattva 26. Procreation Tattva - Upastha: limited power of creation (procreation to be exact). The next five tattvas are also on the other side of the gap between earth and the elements as were the previous nine (27-35). They are no longer a matter of solids, as in the earth tattva. Internal consciousness has become intellect and instinct. The plane changes from earth-bound souls to a world of ancestors in the plane of the atmosphere. For the Saivite this world of antarloka is the subtle or astral plane where the cycle of reincarnation (samsara) takes place. The svadhishthana (one's own base) chakra, meaing 'reason' is the chakra. These five tattvas are the organs of action (karmendriyas). |
