Free Will
jiyu ishi
The inserts for this lamp are the Unique Speak Boutique rendition of a Japanese pictogram for "Free Will". Layered on top of a photographic image of a kaleidoscopic Tibetan meditation garden, the saying: jiyu ishi is a pleasant reminder (subtly inlaid in soft lighting) of the free will within us all. The notion of free will is not a new concept. It has existed for thousands of years, addressed by Confucius, Buddhism, the Quran and the Bible. The first two characters imply freedom and liberty while the second two reference the will. May we all be free to be unique ourselves. It is a saying which uplifts all who set their eyes upon it.

Creativity
dokusoryoku
This next Kanji piece is called dokusoryoku. It means Creativity and Originality. It is chosen because it supports the uniqueness of the individual. The inserts are done in the Unique Speak Boutique style of placing the pictogram on top of a authentic photographic image. In this instance, the photography is a kaleidoscope of an interior paneled wall. It was used because of how the steps of the image suggest progress, yet each is still the same as the beginning - a koan, if you will. In translation the term is varied depending on the source. One dictionary uses both dokuso' or dokuso'ryoku for originality, while the creative aspect changes slightly from creativity to creative talent respectively. Either way, creativity is applauded because it is empowered by imagination and vision, both being gifts within ourselves. If you know someone or you yourself utilize this beautiful human attribute, it is a perfect gift, whether to compliment or inspire.

Passion
gekijo
The inserts for this lamp are the Unique Speak Boutique rendition of a Japanese pictogram for "Passion". Layered on top of a photographic image of Oriental Bamboo, the saying: gekijo leans to strength that rises even higher than any passion we generally see as romantic or sexual. This is a fervor for living, for life, for causes and beliefs. It has been chosen as a reminder that passion, when used correctly can reap great things. Passion when out of control can yeild violence. In-between the two is a healthy revolution.

Happiness
kofuko
The inserts for this lamp are the Unique Speak Boutique rendition of a Japanese pictogram for "Happiness". Layered on top of a photographic image of rice paper kofuko reminds us of a paradox. Happiness is relative to ourselves. What was once a joy can easily turn to unhappiness. The pictogram asks that we be mindful of happiness aside from what makes us happy. Happiness must be a root within ourselves, not an object outside of ourselves. May happiness be a trait dancing within your being is a great gift to share. Therein is where all success, prosperity and peace comes from.

Yin and Yang
in'yo, on'yo
The inserts for this lamp are the Unique Speak Boutique rendition of a Japanese pictogram for "Yin and Yang" - in'yo, on'yo. In this image the background bamboo has been changed to grayscale. It implies the realm of opposites - black and white. Yin and yang covers a wide range of opposites in its meaning: male and female, active and passive, positive and negative, sun and moon, light and shade, overtly and covertly, explicitly and implicitly. We forget, however, that night and day make a complete cycle of opposites working together. Too often the mind wars with these opposing forces rather then bringing them together as a whole. Woleness is a great gift to give to others. Just as we have a left and right brain working for us at all times, so do we do well to embrace totality.
